WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO COMPLETE A ROOFING PROJECT?

The best time to build a roof is when you need one! While current weather is a factor in outdoor jobs, there is never a bad time to build, repair, or replace a roof. Our first step is to identify any existing problems to determine when the repair should be completed. The materials involved will also factor into the project’s timeline (e.g., asphalt shingles require +40°F whereas a flat roof can be installed or repaired at any temperature). Our team is prepared to work as needed to resolve your issue. Whether it’s to fix ice-damming in the winter or repairing a leak before the next summer storm, Prrotect Roofing is ready for the job.

Why Your Shingles May Not Be Laying Flat After Installation

Why Your Shingles May Not Be Laying Flat After Installation

You may notice that after we complete a roofing repair or installation, the shingles might not appear to lay perfectly flat.

While that may seem to be a huge concern to you as the homeowner and customer, we completely understand.

We are here to tell you though, that you should not be concerned, they will lay flat soon and it is very normal.

In this blog, we will explain why that is occurring, when the shingles will be laying flat, and when you should be concerned and give us a call.

Let’s get into it!

So, Why Aren’t My Shingles Flat?

The biggest reason why it takes shingles a while to lay flat is that the weather causes them to warp.

Asphalt shingles are especially subject to curling a bit in the beginning and you will have to wait for the adhesive to soften in a few months.

When the weather gets consistently warm is when you should notice them looking much flatter.

The way the shingles were stored before installation could also play a big part in why they aren’t flat.

Shingles are usually transported on wood pallets, which can cause them to warp quite a bit.

But once again, they will lay flat in the span of a few months when the weather heats up.

If it has been hot for a couple of months and you haven’t seen your shingles get any better or more flat, please
call us here and we will help you immediately.

Should Wavy Shingles Be A Concern?

Yes, if your shingles appear to be wavy, then this is a major cause for concern.

A lot of times this occurs because the installation was not done correctly and should be fixed right away, but if it’s an older roof, then it means that the actual foundation and structure of your roof are warping, which is a safety issue.

If you see any signs of waviness on your roof, contact us as soon as possible (link).

Conclusion

Shingles not only tie in the whole look of your house together, but they also protect your home from all types of damage including moisture, animals, and dirt.

That’s why it is extremely important to make sure you are hiring the right roofing company to work on your roof repairs and installations.

Here at Prrotect Roofing, we guarantee that you will always get the highest quality roof made from the most durable products that will last for decades.
